Money and Credit Council Approves Activity of the Iranian Currency and Gold Exchange Center.

Nouraei & Mostafavi Law Offices – 2 February 2023- Tehran- Iran – In its session of 11 Bahman 1401(31 January 2023), the Money and Credit Council (MCC) amended its previous resolution regarding the Organized Market of Foreign Exchange Transactions (in Farsi Language: Bazare Motashakele Moamelat Arzi) and upgraded that market to a developed level named ‘the Currency and Gold Exchange Center of Iran”.

The Public Relations Office of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) reported today, adding” The Money and Credit Council, in line with the Central Bank’s proposal to amend the regulations as mentioned above for organizing and developing the market in the field of currency and gold, established the Currency and Gold Exchange Center of Iran to facilitate currency transactions (both banknotes and foreign currency transfers) and gold to be traded and settled on electronic platforms at the discretion of the Governor General of the Central Bank.
