Iran increases the fines and penalty amounts related to the crimes and violations listed in various laws.

Nouraei & M. Mostafavi Law Offices July 25, 2024- Tehran- The government of Iran, through a resolution, has increased the amount of fines and penalties determined for committing the crimes and violations set out in the commercial, civil, penal, and other laws in line with the current economic conditions and prevailing inflation.

The Cabinet has received this authority from the amended article 28 of the Islamic Penal Code, approved on 1/2/1392 (April 21, 2013), according to which it is obliged to adjust the penalties and fines regarding all crimes and violations, including monetary punishment, in proportion to the inflation rate once every three years announced by the Central Bank upon the proposal of the Minister of Justice and the approval of the Cabinet.

The aforementioned Article 28 was amended on 23/2/1399 (May 12, 2020), and its provisions have been in force since then.

The Resolution of the Council of Ministers, which was published in the official Gazzete No. 23097 dated 23 TIr 1403 (June 24, 2024) for the public knowledge, is as follows:

In the meeting of 30/3/1403 (June 19, 2024), the Council of Ministers, on recommendation No. 44779 dated 7/11/1402 (January 7, 2024 ) of the Ministry of Justice and based on the amended article 28 of the Islamic Penal Code, approved the following:

The amounts related to the crimes and violations listed in various laws will be adjusted as described in the attached Tables Nos. (1) and (2), which are confirmed by the cabinet seal.
