Import of iPhone 14s by Passengers and Through Mail Banned as of February 20, 2023

Nouraei & Mostafavi Law Offices – February 15, 2023- Tehran- Iran- Mr. Ali Vakili, the Director General of Iran’s Customs Imports Office, explained today the details of the circular letter issued by the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO) to the Customs regarding the ban on the entry of mobile phones with the Apple’s iPhone 14 brand by passenger and through the mail. The ban also includes models of iPhone 14 smartphones, such as iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, designed, developed, and marketed by the American Apple Inc.

 

In mid-summer this year, the import of iPhone 14 by businesspersons was disallowed, and now the ban has been expanded to passengers and postal services.

 

As declared by Mr. Vakili, Iran Customs, in its circular letter to the local customs houses, has stated that:” Concerning the provisions of letter No. 11278090 dated 19/11/1401 (February 8, 2023) of the Trade Promotion Organization and letter No. 3428 dated 12/11/1401 (February 2, 2023) of the said organization, it is now stated that, starting from 01/12/1401(February 20, 2023) the mobile phones with the Apple trademark model 14 and all models after that, will not be part of the list of goods that are allowed to be brought into the country by passengers and through mail services. Therefore, consider the following points and notify the matter to all relevant departments:

1- Do not register the data of the said incoming phones in the passenger and postal online system as of the mentioned date.

2-You should provide the information on the ban at the passenger’s entry and exit points through the installation of banners and other means of mass communication”.
