All Iranian Nationals will have Economic Code for Taxation

Nouraei & Mostafavi Law Offices -23 August 2022- Tehran- Iran-The head of the Iranian National Tax Administration (INTA) announced that every Iranian will have an economic code in the near future and this special code will be given to all natural persons and legal entities.

In an interview with ISNA News Agency, Davoud Manzour stated that since the electronic invoice is going to be issued, then an economic code will be required for the people in order to enable the tax authority to identify their transactions. Emphasizing that the allocated economic code includes both natural persons and legal persons, he explained: ‘’For natural persons, this code consists of the main part of the National Code of Iranian natural persons to which some other digits will be added. In case of legal persons and companies, a few digits will be added to their National ID Number.

The head of the Iranian National Tax Administration further explained the function of this code: ‘’When a real or legal person buys a product and it is registered in his name, we shall recognize him by his economic code’’.

According to him, the use of the economic code will be implemented from the month of Aban 1401 (November 2022).
